University of Michigan Medical School

University of Michigan Medical School Campus
The Medical School was the University of Michigan's first professional school. Our faculty, students and staff are proud to be part of the world-renowned University of Michigan which includes some of the top-ranked schools in Law, Business, Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, Dentistry, Social Work and Pharmacy, as well as a premier Hospitals and Health Centers organization. This unique opportunity for collaboration across so many disciplines sets the stage for innovation and gives us a strategic advantage when it comes to education, research and patient care. The U-M Medical School also includes the Faculty Group Practice, which includes all of the nearly 1,600 U-M faculty physicians who care for patients at the three U-M hospitals and 40 U-M health centers.
Today, we are discovering a more accurate biomarker for prostate cancer; testing artificial tissue, organs and bone; and creating a "lung-on-a-chip" that allows researchers to grow lung airway cells that act like they're in a human body instead of a Petri dish. In any given year, thousands of patients pass through our doors, 170 new physicians graduate from our Medical School, and hundreds more hold fellowships, complete their residencies, and engage in graduate and postdoctoral studies.
From the beginning, we have known how to put patients first, when to push the boundaries of science and medicine, how to design successful curricula, and how to reward our faculty, students and staff for their everyday excellence.
